That worked fine - those two icons are now visible. When I click on the link icon, there are still missing icons above the photo:
They probably also need the font-weight property added to the rules governing them.
The missing icons may be from Font Awesome 4.
Try this: Edit your Page template. Go to Advanced Setup > Font Awesome Version Support and set Enable shims for Font Awesome 4 to on.
You may then need to clear template cache.
That worked - thank you.
Iām a developer and know how thrilled you guys must be supporting legacy software, but please know that I am grateful for a level of support that far exceeds that of any product I own or service I subscribe to.
And for that reason alone, I plan to upgrade to BL5, so I wonāt need to bug you about old software.
You guys are amazing!
Once nuance here, which caught me. I experienced this same icon problem (as well as my Instagram icon going missing). What confused me was that I was running Backlight 5, not 4. I noticed that I was running 5.0.0 so upgraded to 5.3.1 and all the problems went away. Anyone upgrading from 4 to 5 would automatically get 5.3.1 but those like me who might have been running an earlier version of 5 need to get to that level to solve the issue through upgrading. Not sure what version of 5 solved the issue but it wasnāt 5.0.0.
Hope this helps someone who might be in the same position as I was.
Yes, Font Awesome changes were implemented in 5.2.0, ahead of our Font Awesome subscription expiring.
Matthew I am also having problems with icons in BL4. If I follow your advice and upgrade what is the upgrade discount for BL5 - can you post a link? Also will I need to upgrade the Galleria add-on. Thanks Ben
@benm Iāve DMed you about the upgrade. The discount is -$35 to upgrade, and you can get Backlight 5 here.
You do not need to purchase an upgrade for the Galleria add-on.
I am having the same problem. But not only on my published site. The iconās in backlight (4) itself are also goneā¦
Since Backlight 4 is no longer being updated, the icons used in the back end canāt be updated. You can fix the public facing site by following the advice above.
The simplest solution is to update to Backlight 5
I looked into the solution for a fix, but for me it is not so easy to follow as my homepage is wordpress, so the source looks very different. I could look at the albums, but I guess it is better to upgrade.
Mathew I cannot find the upgrade code you mentioned in an earlier post. Can you send it again pleaseā¦
I am facing a similar problem. Also had a problem with the icons. After updating from BL 4 to BL 5, this problem disappeared on the website (see screenshot)
but not in my blog page (Backlight WordPress) (see screenshot).
Using version 5.0.3 WP Theme. www.airshowaviation.com
Iām seeing similar. WP pages seem ok for the most part, but icons are missing on posts.
Did you update the WP theme? I have the free fontawesome fonts in my wp installation:
<link rel='stylesheet' id='fontawesome5free-css' href='https://danielleu.com/backlight/modules/module-admin/lib/css/all.min.css?ver=5.7.9' type='text/css' media='all' />
I updated my theme. The main blog page looks fine, but posts donāt. Same font awesome stylesheet shows in the respective page sources.
Iāve not had time to see if thereās a plug-in conflict causing this though.
I wonder if thereās a CORS policy issue accessing the font awesome files. I suddenly seem to be having such issues with The Turning Gateās blog.
Hi Rod,
I canāt upgrade to Backlight 5 just now (not earning for the past two months). Iām still running 4. Is there a solution to the icons problem?
take a look at this: Font Awesome 5 Free Unicode Fix - TTG Tips and Tricks
I still have the problem with WordPress though. Not sure whatās going on with that.
