I am redoing my website and completed the galleries a couple of week ago. Now working on the other pages (not using Backlight for that.) I updated to Backlight 4 and now the cover image on one of the albums (a private album) doesn’t show - just a placeholder. I checked and the cover image is still there and in the page setup. I have done nothing to these galleries except update to BL 4. Did BL4 break something? Or is there something I have to change?

See (misspelled) setting, “Project Cover Images for Password-protected Albums” on the Backlight Settings page.
