Album with password protection not working

I am on BL 4 latest version and wanted to password protect an album, but it does not work?

I did enable password protection in publisher module->album setting->features. Then I logged out of of BL interface, went to the album and it worked! I did not let Safari save the password.
Then I tried the page in Firefox and it loaded without asking me for a password. Same thing in Chrome?
I went back to Safari, emtpied browser cache and loaded page again and Safari is also not asking me for a password.
I ent back into Backlight and changed the password, logged out, loaded page again in all three browsers and am not asked for a password.

I password protected another album and I can load the page without being asked for a password.

This is the link to the password protected album:

Password would be:“test”

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using Lightroom to publish?
If so, is your TTG Publisher plugin up to date? Current version is 6.0.2

What happens if you set the Access Code in Backlight Publisher?

Backlight doesn’t use “password” it uses “Access Code.” Are you seeing the word “Password” in LR Publisher?

No, I am not using Lightroom to publish, I do everything in Backlight back end.

All my modules are up to date versions.

I set the access code in Backlight Publisher.

My workflow was:

Backlight login->publisher->Chose the album set->chose the album->click on the album->hit edit album->features->Visibility set to "reauires access code->Access Code “edit”->set access code

This is weird.
I’ve tried duplicating this with my test site and everything worked fine.
I then tried it on my main site and the first album I tried behaved like yours is. I tried it in Chrome. But it worked correctly in other browsers.
I tried other albums and they all worked correctly. I then went back to the first, set the access code and tried again in the other browsers (I first cleared browser cache) and now it works all the time in all the browsers i have (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, Brave).

Try saving the album again.
You can also try clearing browser and template cache.
And I suppose clicking on the Update Album Files on the Special Links page is worth a try too.

Ok, I will try that tonight.

Thanxs!

So I tried all that but nothing changes.

If I add a new album and access protect it, it is shown in BL publisher with a lock icon, but once I am in Safari or Chrome or Firefox, the newly added and protected album just opens without asking for a password.

@Ben will need to take a look. He’ll likely need Backlight admin access and perhaps FTP access.

Hi @skipper, can you please provide me with a Backlight admin login so that I can look into this? The best way is by clicking on my profile name then using the Message function.

I am still waiting for a solution to the problem? I have sent login data as a private message.

Cheers

Hi @skipper, sorry for not getting back to you on this. I’ve just had a look at your Backlight admin, and I can’t see why it’s not working as it should. I will try to replicate this on my end using the same settings, and if I can will look to find the issue.

Hi @skipper, I’ve been able to replicate this on my end. We’re looking into it.
