Clear Template Cache?

Hello,

I recently completed my first website with Backlight 3 and am very pleased with how it went. Thanks for the help in this forum along the way.

After backing up my website, I noticed that folder /backlight/data/designer/cache is about 420 MB, containing over 4,300 files. Virtually all the files have the extension “.template”. That made me wonder:

  1. If I clear the template cache within Backlight Admin, will it reduce the size of that folder?
  2. If I clear the cache, will it delete the templates I am using for the site, or damage the site in any other way?

I’m not sure whether “Clear Template Cache” is more of an “emergency” function, or more of a “clean-up” button.

Clear Template Cache will not delete templates or damage anything.
Clear away!
