Disappearing emojis

I can successfully insert an emoji into a TTG Publisher album’s Page Content’s Main Copy. But it later disappears (replaced by “??”) when that album is next edited in any way (e.g., album simply opened for an edit and immediately closed without any changes).

This occurs under Backlight 5 or 6 (all modules up to date, including Lr’s TTG Publisher).

I am running Lr Classic under Windows 11 and inserting the emoji using the Windows+"." keys.

Two other related issues were also experienced:

a) I am unable to insert an emoji into Backlight 5 or 6 text using Markdown’s standard “colon emoji-code colon” syntax.

b) while diagnosing this problem, I updated my Backlight 5 to 6 from my Backlight 5 configuration’s Modules page Update link. There was an adjacent comment stating that I’d receive a $35 upgrade discount. And other TTG documentation stated that that discount would be automagically applied. It wasn’t and I couldn’t any way to have it be applied.

My apologies, Richard. We’ve recently changed purchasing systems, and there may yet be some quirks we’ll need to work out. Thanks for letting us know, and for your patience.

I have issued a $35 refund on your Backlight 6 order.

@Ben Can we check into the discounted purchase links?

As for the emojis, I’m not sure. You’re the first person that’s brought it up, and I think neither of us regularly including emojis in website content. Might be our Markdown library doesn’t support them? Maybe something we can look into, at least to understand the problem, even if we’re stuck with it.

Hi @Matthew, I have fixed the issue. The pre-populated email address was interfering with the discount code. Fixed on our server, so this does not need any further updates.
