Does Backlight 3 Simplify PHP hooks?

Has Backlight 3 made creating custom “hooks” with PHP any easier? In previous releases It was very complicated for someone like me who wasn’t familiar with PHP code. I wanted to use the hook that allowed you to use your own headers and footers while using Backlight Galleries.

phplugins hasn’t really changed from Backlight 2
If you’re coming from BL1, I think a few hooks were added (and the names of all of them have changed along with some syntax when using them)

The PHPlugins experience is still one that largely requires familiarity with coding, or at least a willingness to struggle and learn. We have added more examples, that can also be used as starters. But code is still code.
