Download backlight installer

I have searched and searched and just can’t find anywhere to download the installer. I think it would be a great idea to mention how to do that in the documentation.

When purchasing, you receive an email containing a download link for the installer. If you have that email archived, the link should still be valid.

If necessary, I am able to lookup your order to retrieve your personal download link.

You should only need the installer when setting up Backlight for the first time for a given site. Once installed, you can do everything you need to do from within Backlight’s admin, on the Backlight Modules page. Thereafter, you should only need the installer if setting up a new site in another location.

Hi Rod

If an instalation has been ruined like the one I sent you the error message on, I suppose there’s only one solution which is back up data and then and reinstall.

I have two things on this.

  1. Make it easier and inform better in the right places on how to go about getting hold of the installer in the documentation. I have to admit I was swearing a bit about this until I recalled something about an email from way back.Time is precious, so help in the obvious places can do wonders.

  2. Make it easier to back-up and restore data via Backlight. Also your support page is quite limited in relation how to connect the publisher to a site that was restored. I am going to try that tomorrow and with the lack of documentation, I can’t say it’s something I look forward to as I fear hours will easily go by with this.

Kind regards
Steen

I don’t know that your installation was ruined. It could be that your host updated php and something wasn’t compatible. @Ben would be the one who could figure that out.
But reinstalling directly from within Backlight is easy. Just go to your Backlight Modules page and click on the Reinstall All link.

Here’s this from the documentation about backup and restoration:

Hi Steen,

Unless your site has been hacked and malicious code injected or files corrupted, I don’t think there’s such thing as a “ruined” installation of Backlight. Usually something just needs to be resolved been your software and your host. That’s where @Ben steps in.
