Email from Backlight not getting out

Hi guy’s,

Looking for some help here, I have been trying to set up the email configuration and have had no success.

I know that mail hosts have been tightening there setting to make sending email from the likes of Backlight less popular so am not sure if this is a problem for them or yourselves.

The following is the errors im getting from Gmail

SMTP → FROM SERVER:
SMTP → FROM SERVER:
SMTP → ERROR: EHLO not accepted from server:
SMTP → FROM SERVER:
SMTP → ERROR: HELO not accepted from server:
SMTP → ERROR: AUTH not accepted from server:
SMTP → NOTICE:
EOF caught while checking if connectedFAILED
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

AND:
Something went wrong
Unexpected error: fputs(): Send of 12 bytes failed with errno=32 Broken pipe in SMTP.php on line 166
SMTP → ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection refused (111)
FAILED
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

I have tried a few different hosts and settings with the same or similar results.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

have you tried the plain mail option?

Gmail blocks usage of standard SMTP (for want of a better term) by default. To enable it, you’ll need to enable access to “less secure apps”. Enabling this for your use from Backlight is akin to trusting yourself as it’s your server that is sending the emails.
