Error updating old Essay BL 5.3.2

I THINK I had this problem before when upgrading to BL 5.3.1, but I KNOW I have this problem after upgrading to 5.3.2. I am in the process of creating a new Essay. I had an old one that I used as an example, 'cuz I’m old and it’s been a while since I did an essay. With the new Essay with mostly stubbed out markdown and 10 newly uploaded photos, if I view the Essay in Browser, I get the little icon at the upper right to access the photo grid. But if I navigate back to the old essay, while logged in as administrator, I do not get the danged icon for the grid. I can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Old Essay: Why Print Matters - Michael Boatright Photography (this does not show the grid icon, but should)

Yes, I cleared template cache, browser cache and updated album files. Both are in the same folder.

PHP Configuration:

Update. I have other essays in a different album set. None of them have the problem of not displaying the grid icon. And something that I’ve noticed about the old essay that does, if I go into Edit Album, then Show in Browser and it shows the album without the link in the upper right hand side, I then go back to the Edit Album page and then back out to the album set (via Firefox browser back button). At that point, I get challenged for the admin credentials again and I have to relogon. This DOES NOT happen with the other essays on the site that properly show the grid icon in the upper right. It is as if the act of editing this album then backing out somehow clobbers the cookie associated with the admin logon and loses track of being logged on, which would also account for not showing the icon.

I would need to be logged into your Backlight admin to diagnose anything. Feel free to DM me your login if you’d like me to investigate.

In general, though, the icon not appearing would be indicative of the JavaScript failing for some reason. You need to be logged in, and viewing a page that supports essays. In Pangolin, that would be specifically on a page that has been assigned a Pangolin Essay template.

DM’ed to you

Got it.

I am seeing the button correctly appearing on both stories. This might be a simple case of your browser having cached the page. Can you try clearing your browser cache?

Well, I did that. (Shift reload). I will have to try again this evening.

Maybe try a different browser.

OK, so I had cleared cache, but not cookies. I cleared the site cookies and it cleared the problem. Thanks, Matthew.

Wonderful. I’m glad that’s sorted out.
