Hi, thanks for all the support, especially for us not-so-technically skilled…
The most confusing and confounding thing about Backlight is the unexplained hierarchy of the different items in Designer. For example, in Page Template design, there is an item in Typography submenu to set Hyperlinks color. But then in Navigation submenu, there is an item to set Menu Items color etc. There is no way to tell which takes precedence, except by trial and error. Is there some kind of chart or roadmap about how to navigate these hierarchies?
Thanks in advance
Dave
There is no such roadmap.
But all those granular settings will override the global setting found in Colors > Accent
The hyperlink color will apply to all text hyperlinks (like breadcrumbs, and regular text links).
The setting you make in Navigation will apply only to navigation.
But if you wanted all link colors to be the same, then you could use the setting in Colors and not change them anywhere else.
Matt has a video on Color in Backlight. It’s from the BL 1 days but still applies
Designer is built around a top-to-bottom workflow. So you can generally expect that something further down the page will override things above it.
Thanks, I did watch the video. Will try again. Meanwhile I have another problem. I have my top level gallery called “Top” and two album sets in that, called “Video” and “Work”. It all works, except when you click on “Work” in the menu, and then you get this message: “The template could not be found for id in GalleryDelegate.php on line 324”
The Videos link works fine, and all the lower level links within “Work” also are good. As far as I can tell, the settings are all the same between the two Album sets. What am I doing wrong??
Thanks again
Dave

First, try assigning a new album set template to that top-level.
If that doesn’t work, can you please repost this new problem as a separate topic?
