How do blaclight6 choose templates for essays and blogs in Kookaburra. for each of the 6 presentation possibilities of images.

Not sure what you mean about Backlight choosing the template. The user chooses the template.
And in album templates, you can choose the image presentation.
In Essays, you also choose the presentation (grid, carousel, static, single) when you choose the images:
