I copied some albums to a different top level directory from a sub-domain. How do I get BL or Lightroom in particular to see those albums etc.?
Since Backlight uses a database to manage albums, just moving them won’t get them seen. I’m thinking you may need to republish them all (delete what you did first).
But wait around to see if @Ben has any other ideas.
I’ll wait. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that as there are custom links in the pages etc.
Thanks
What if I re-output the images with the new publisher in LR, quit LR, then replaced the folders with the folders from my original sub domain folder. Will BL and LR then recognize them?
That sounds like republishing. What then would be the point of replacing the folders.?
For your page text content, all of that goes through the database as well.
For Backlight or Lightroom Publisher to recognize something, it needs to be created with Backlight or Llightroom Publisher.
They were originally created in LR but some pages have custom links and text etc. that I’d hate to have to rebuild all over from start. Even if the links were outdated having the bad links there would make it a lot easier to connect them to the new link.
There is no file inside of an album folder that has your page text, it’s all stored in the database and inserted into the page, much like how WordPress works. If you’re publishing from Lightroom, Lightroom Publisher handles this. If Publishing through Backlight, Backlight Publisher handles it.
There is no way in Lightroom Publisher or Backlight to move albums between Publisher instances (in Lightroom) or between top-level sets (in Backlight).
I see only one option: completely republish all albums.
(maybe @Ben know some database magic that would work)
You might try the Lightroom Voyager plug-in to copy the album in question to a new instance of Publisher. It’s meant for transferring Publisher collections between catalogs but perhaps it will also work within a catalog to move between Publisher instances.
Hi @DonLand, you may be able to get the albums recognised in the new top-level set by changing the publisher_root
IDs (the backend term for Top-level Gallery) of the albums to the ID of the Top-level Gallery you’ve moved them to.
If you can provide me with a Backlight admin login then I can try to see what can be done with that. If so, can you also provide a list of galleries you’ve moved?
There’s no way I’m aware of to get LR to recognise these albums in the new places.
Hey Ben, thanks for the reply but I already deleted and re-set up the published albums etc.
