Hi all,

Separate root folders would require separate installations of Backlight, and separate maintenance of each language site
have you seen this?
Hi Rod,
Thanks for your quick reply. I’ve been using Backlight’s multilingual support on my website for a long time. I thought that, in terms of SEO optimization and easier maintenance, it would be better to organize the site into separate folders for each language. I’ve already tried this using ChatGPT, and it seems like it could work with some additional code in body__.php. That’s why I’m asking.
If there’s an easy way to set up Backlight so that it’s possible to run 3 or 4 folders, each with a different language, I’d appreciate any tips.
Best regards,
Oliver
I know of no way to do this (other than separate installations)
Maybe @Daniel or @Matthew would know
You could do something like this
backlight
en
de
es
But then you duplicate all albums. Or maybe you can use smart-albums so each language section will reference the same pictures. With Kookaburra you can use albums as pages. So maybe this might work. You would need to take care of properly setting the language attribute.
AFAIK, this is just not the way Backlight was envisioned to support multi-language sites. But if you have a few hours, you could set up a test site as a proof of concept.
Is it too difficult to maintain your current page or do you visitors run into issues?
Hi Daniel, hi Rod
thanks for your support. I’ve already decided against that idea and am finishing up my Backlight page.
Thank you so much for your help.
Best regards,
Oliver
