My site has dropped off the Air!

Hi Folks,

Been a very long time since I posted here! However, I have not been doing anything on my site since the last module update for version 4. Today, decided to check in on the site for some reason and it will not load, neither will the admin. I get the following:-

‘Unable to find the SQLite module. Backlight 2 requires the PDO, SQLite and XML modules. Make sure that these modules are installed and enabled’

I swear I have not done any mods and it’s been a long time since it was Backlight 2! site is https://jonevans.photography. I can login to the server using ftp. The Server is on Bluehost.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Jon Evans

Hi Jon,

Sounds like Bluehost may have turned off those modules on your server. I’m on Bluehost too, and my sites are working.

Hi Rod,

thanks for the pickup, it’s been so long since I looked at the Bluehost cPanel that I’m struggling to find where I can check what modules are running. I can see the Databases and PHPadmin pages, but nothing points to where I should be. I tried looking at the error log in the cPanel and it does not show any issues, in fact it’s got nothing in it.

Any pointers?

Jon

Bluehost changed its layout a year or so ago and they didn’t make things easier to find.

Maybe it’s the version of php your site is using?
In the c-Panel under Software is Multi Php Manager. That shows that php 7.3 and 7.4 are deprecated. It also shows what your site is using. You can update the version you’re using there. The latest version has been working for me.

If that doesn’t solve things, you’ll probably have to call them.

Hi Rod,

I’ve checked out the MultiPHPadmin page and you are correct, 7.3 and 7.4 are deprecated. Hoever there is no option to go to version 8. How do I get my site on version 8?

check the box for your domain and using the dropdown on the right hand side, select the php version.
I just noticed that a couple sites of mine are still on 7.4 so I’m changing those.

My drop down on the cPanel only lists 7.3 and 7.4!!!

Guess it’s time to call Bluehost support.

Yep! On it now… Thanks Rod

Hope that you and yours are Ok, it’s been a while.

So Bluehost support are no use. Apparently I have to take up my problem with a developer.

I think I’d try calling back in hopes of getting an agent that would actually help.
They should be able to update the php version and make sure those modules are installed.

Man, Bluehost seems to have gone downhill.

Jon, regarding PHP, if you’re still on Backlight 4, stick to PHP 8.1 or 7. If you’re on the latest Backlight 5, then you can opt into PHP 8.2, if Bluehost makes is available.

As to the original problem …

Unable to find the SQLite module. Backlight 2 requires the PDO, SQLite and XML modules. Make sure that these modules are installed and enabled

Yeah, it sounds like they’ve messed up your server. Those have always been the requirements, so the site working before would mean the server was running all the prerequisites, and now is not.

Hi Matt, Spent another fruitless hour or so with support, butI’ve lost the will to pursue them…

So I’m going to start from scratch, when they have made PHP 8 available to me. Apparently there is a phased roll out of version 8 and I’m not on it yet!

If I hadn’t had a couple of years left on my hosting plan I’d have told them to stuff it…
