I have recently upgraded to BL5. Although I had no cart functionality after the initial upgrade, once I installed the updated modules and then cart, I found that opening a gallery page reveals thumbnails of the page’s images with a small cart icon in the upper right hand corner. Clicking this icon opens the cart and all seems to work properly, including access to PayPal. However, I also noticed that if I click on any one of the thumbnails, a single large image of the selected photo appears. While this enlargement doesn’t include a cart icon in the image’s upper right hand corner, the cart icon does appear in the horizontal streamer at the top of the page (see image 1). I note that clicking that icon again opens the cart purchase page (see image 2). While the latter displays a horizontal button at the bottom
to “add to cart” this button does NOT add the item to the cart. As such, in the current configuration, one can only add an item to the cart from the page with the thumbnail images. Is this normative behavior?
As I examine the issue further, you are correct. The item IS added to the cart. However, I now realize the confusing feature. When I access the cart via the symbol on a thumbnail, adding an item or items generates a superscript number in the cart icon. However, when I click the “add to cart” bar/button via the enlarged image, while the item is, indeed, added to the cart, it is not clear that this has happened since the cart icon in the top part of the website doesn’t display the superscripted number. The latter only appears when I return to the page with the thumbnails or exit the gallery. Is this how things are supposed to work?
That’s how it’s always worked. The cart icon in the large image display is for adding to the cart only (to access the Add to Cart dialog box). The number of items in the cart is only shown in the Cart icon in the top pallet of the album’s thumbnail page.
