Hey all, I’ve been getting emails from PayPal saying that my integration is due for an update. With scary words like:
“Your PayPal integration is due for an update”
“It looks like you’re using an older PayPal integration. Update now to offer Venmo, Pay Later options,1 debit and credit cards, and our latest features. There’s no additional cost.”
I’m assuming that this is related to the PayPal integration within my Backlight Cart. I don’t have any other integrations.
Hi Jeff, I have not seen such a message and don’t see anything under my own PayPal account. A quick search hasn’t turned up much, with one mention on the Zen Cart forum suggesting there is nothing to be concerned about.
Is there anything else in the email linking to more information?
Hi Ben,
Yes, there is a link in the email which takes you here: Checkout Update PayPal Integration | PayPal US
There seems to be plenty of information on this page, including another link that speaks at a more technical level (about 2/3 the way down the page labelled “Update the PayPal code on your website” with a “Get Instructions” button). When I click on that button, I’m taken to a PayPal Developer page with tons of detail.
When I log into my PayPal account using a browser, I am met with the same notice to do the upgrade.
BTW: I am on the latest version of Backlight.
