Problem with sending mail via smtp

I’m trying to setup a mailfunction that sends a contactform to my smtp-mail, but I can’t get it working. When I use the 'send test-email’function I get this response. Can anybody help to solve this issue:

SMTP → ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Unable to find the socket transport “STARTTLS” - did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP? (32630)
FAILED
SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
Something went wrong
Unexpected error: fsockopen(): Unable to connect to STARTTLS://mail.mijndomein.nl:587 (Unable to find the socket transport “STARTTLS” - did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP?) in SMTP.php on line 121

Hi @Saam, the URL does not look correct. Where did you see that it should start with STARTTLS?

Can you try using each of the following and seeing if any work:

https://mail.mijndomein.nl
tls://mail.mijndomein.nl
mail.mijndomein.nl

I tried alle the options you suggested and they all end in an error essage. F.i.:

I tried all 3 options you suggested and also tried to leeve the fiels ‘encrypty’ empty

If that helps I can send ypu the file smtp.php where the error refers to

Hi @Saam, I’m not sure what the issue is. Would you be able to provide me with a Backlight admin login so that I can look further into it? The best way is to click on my profile name followed by ‘Message’.
