Questions regards migrating to Kookaburra:

  1. Will it add additional weight to the source code and impact page speed?

  2. Will my current custom PHPplugin still work?

  3. Are there any time consuming modifications I will have to make to my Pangolin pages?

  4. Will Kookaburra continue to be the preferred code for support for the next so many years?

  5. Will the Lightroom publisher plugin continue to work?

2There’s a separate phplugins file for Kookaburra. Hooks are different than Pangolin. Take a look at the Kookaburra sample phplugins file

5 Yes, the Lightroom plugin works with Kookaburra

  1. Less weight, I expect. Kookaburra is intended to be lighter, and I try to keep lighthouse scores as close to 100% as possible, at least as a baseline. Depending on enabled features and whatever content you stuff into the pages, of course, those scores may come down.
  2. You’d need to migrate your PHPlugins. You should be able to do all the same things, but cannot just copy-and-paste your existing functions.
  3. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Kinda depends on your personal needs.
  4. Yes. I very much hope that I will never rewrite the design modules again. Famous last words, I know.
  5. Yeah, though some of the fields (Tray 1 and 2, for example) do not apply to Kookaburra.
