Rebuilt my web site

I have rebuilt finally my web site after upgrading to BL 6.4.1

I have used only Pangolin templates, as they were the basis of the site since BL 1, but I guess I will try to check what Kookaburra can provide me to improve the site…in the future

I have used Theater for the starting page using the Vegas presentation… this allowed me to put there a slide presentation within a frame (some of the instructions were provided by my customs.css file). I have used also the facility of BL for bilingual sites (with the already known limitations already discussed in the forum). A combination of one and two columns templates and classic/masonry grids were used. I also decided to use serif and sans serif fonts for different pages to make them not boring or repetitive. Comments are welcome!

Really lovely images, Augustin, and the site looks good.

Two minor pieces of feedback:

I found the navigation menu a bit difficult to see. On landing on the site, it took me a moment to find it. Perhaps a combination of the colors blending so well into the rest of the site, and your header graphic being so large and overpowering.

And then I found the site a bit slow to load, though I think this might be more to do with your host serving the site, and less about what you’ve done.

To combat the slow loading, you might want to experiment with Kookaburra for galleries. It offers better performance and a lighter footprint than Pangolin, and might help.

thank you very much Matt for your visit and your comments. Following them, I have reduced the font size of the title from 45 to 35 px to see if this works better. Regarding the navigation menu, I don’t quite understand what you mean: is the problem the font type, the font color or the font size what makes it difficult to find?. Did you look the site with your desktop or your mobile? I find that things that work nice on the desktop are not quite suitable for the mobile screen.

Ah!..yes!..I find that my host can be very slow depending on the daytime…I am seriously thinking about changing the host…I saw that today it is not complicate to move a web site from one host to another as they can do this very easy (anyway i will make a backup via ftp to my desktop).

I was also thinking about upgrading to Kookaburra as I presumed that the new template should be better than the older, but to tell you the truth I was more worried about renewing the site and adding new galleries with my last images from Tanzania, that I preferred to use what I knew better (Pangolin) and leave the move to KK for the end of the year, when everything will be quieter.

The title adjustment looks better.

For the navigation, it’s maybe just me going blind. There’s no problem with it; it just didn’t catch my eye. I looked for the nav, didn’t see it, thought maybe it was collapsed and went looking for the mobile menu button, and then realized the full nav had been there the whole time.
