Search Question

Hi there,

On my site https://www.tasmanianphotos.com

People can search for the town called Ross , but in the search return there are a couple of images with the word Prosser in their meta data (which has nothing to do with the town Ross).

If I search “Ross” (include quotes), I still get the images with metadata Prosser ie (pROSSer)

Is there any way to exclude the Prosser tagged images when somebody searches ONLY for Ross? and not Ross -Prosser for instance.

Cheers

Hi Chumby,

As a start, you can read up on how search works in Backlight.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the advice and I have read through that page. Very informative.

In my case however, the search term:

ross -prosser

returns the desired results (only images of the town ross - nothing returned associated with prosser).

But I am presuming users will only search for:

ross

as that is what they are looking for… and they don’t know that prosser even exists.(or any other term with “ross” in it.)

So from what I can tell here there is no way I can return images only with ross by itself in it (ie ross not being part of any other word) given my situation above?

Am I right there or am I missing something?

Appreciate your help.

Cheers
Chumby

Seemingly not.

Ok, thanks Matthew.
