I posted this site a few years ago. It’s sort of a memorial for my stepson’s passing. Since this isn’t the type of site that gets a lot of visits, I decided to check on it today. Alas, all I get is this white page with some ominous inscriptions on it. Does anyone know what this means?
my guess is that the version of Backlight used is no longer compatible with the php version used by the host
The site is running a newer version of PHP than the version of Backlight is compatible with. What version are you running in that location?
Hello Ben and Rod,
Actually, I don’t know which version PHP that is running. How can I tell? Can’t access the Backlight page that manages the site. This also means I can’t update it! Please don’t tell me that I will have to re-design and re-publish another version of the site.
you should be able to see what version is being used (and possibly revert to an earlier version) from your host’s C-Panel
Seems I’m using PHP Version 5.6
If this should be changed, why aren’t my other sites in need of this?
Unless I forgot about this particular one, all my sites run Backlight 5 though this one might be 4. It’s been awhile.
I can see the site now. Did you make any changes to the php version being run?
But I can’t access the Backlight login page.
PHP 5.6 is pretty old. Does your C-Panel allow you to change the php version your site is using?
I can’t get to the Backlight login page, but the installer page shows. Try reinstalling Backlight (looks like the atn site might be still on BL2):
I will look into that. Meanwhile, my web host thinks it’s a htaccess file problem. But I think he is in left field…
It might be BL2, but I rather think it’s 3 or 4, It’s been there for some time, probably since 2009…
Maybe 2019
Backlight’s not that old
The issue has been solved! It was a Backlight 5 site but it hadn’t been updated for some time, from 4.1.3 to 5.4.1!
The repair was done by my host service but I was not informed how they proceeded.
