This is weird. Ben is going to need to look into it.

I can see on the top level gallery page that Backlight knows that there is 1 album set and 153 albums.
But the thumbnail view is showing just 151 albums and no sets.

And, as you know, the new set is not showing up on the galleries page even though you can access it by direct url.

I don’t know of any limits to the number of items in a top-level gallery so this may be some weird database thing and Ben will be the one who needs to look into it.

He’s in Australia so give it a few hours

Ok. Thanks for taking a look. The Gallery page takes forever to load, so I thought it might be faster and cleaner if I broke it down to the years. Let’s see what he says.

Thanks again for your help.

Kurt

Another thing you can try, if you don’t mind handing over control of the albums from Lightroom to Backlight, is to create the album set in Backlight and move the albums from within Backlight.

To move them, you’ll first need to edit the album from Backlight Publisher.
Under the Advanced Settings tab you’ll see Album Management.
Change the management from Lightroom to Backlight.
Go back up to the Base Settings tab and change the album’s parent to the new album set you created.

If you do this, the albums will still remain in Lightroom. You can add, remove, or change images (develop settings or metadata). But if you make any changes at all in the Edit Album dialog box, the album will revert to its original location.
If you want to move control of the album completely to Backlight, you can then delete the album from Lightroom. During that process you’ll get a box pop up asking if you want to leave the files (pictures) on the server. Leave the files on the server. If you delete them, the album will just go away.

Ben will still need to figure out what happened with that 2014 set though.

Thanks for the option. I kinda like being able to do everything via Lightroom. I have another photographer that adds his photos through Backlight, and that has been great for having someone at a remote location.

I’ll think about the new option though. I’ll leave it sit until Ben takes a look at it in its current state.

Thanks again!

Hi @Kurt, I’m not sure what is going on here. I can see the two albums when viewing https://www.fastcarphotos.com/galleries/2014/ Can you share your Backlight admin login with me, or do you mind if @rod_barbee passes on the details?

Hi @Kurt, thanks for the access. The albums are indeed there, and can be viewed at these links:

https://www.fastcarphotos.com/backlight/publisher/view_album/38909/
https://www.fastcarphotos.com/backlight/publisher/view_album/89846/

There may be some limitation for the number of albums shown on the View Albums page, that I’m not aware of.

The link for the 2014 Album Set is here: https://www.fastcarphotos.com/backlight/publisher/view_album/701097/

I’m wondering if there’s something about having an entirely-numeric title that is tripping up Backlight. If so, that would be a bug.

I changed the name of the Album Set to Test.

Ok…this is strange. I changed it to test, then when I have it send me to the page, it stills shows Gallery>2014

Hi @Kurt, have you changed it back again from Test to 2014? Perhaps you had changed the title without changing the slug?

Thanks for the database files. I’ve downloaded them and I’m also seeing the missing 2014 when loaded into my test site. Now to work out what’s going wrong.

Hi @kurt, I’ve found the problem and fixed it, but I don’t know how it came about.
For some reason the 2014 Album Set was marked as a child of the album set with id of 5406. There is no such album set in your database. This caused Backlight to not find it directly underneath Galleries.
Removing that broken reference has fixed it, and 2014 and the two child albums are now appearing in Backlight.

@Kurt
Now to see if you can create another album set in Lightroom and have it appear on the Galleries page.

Good morning!

I created a 2015 Album Set and the same issue is happening.

https://fastcarphotos.com/galleries/2015-events/

Just for a data point, can you try creating another album set from Lightroom. This time don’t use any numbers in the name.

I tried fixing the slug for 2014, and now it has disappeared like before. Arrrgh! I’ll do one for 2016 without any numbers.

I named one twothousandsixteen and its not showing either.

If you’re up for some experimenting, here is the first thing I would try:

In case this is Lightroom weirdness, try resetting the Lightroom Preferences file.

It’s worth a try.
